Fajr and Isha Through 2027: Seasonal Curves and Extremes

Fajr and Isha change through the year as the sun’s path changes, and daylight saving can add a clock-time jump. This 2027 study checks every date in four cities to find the earliest and latest local clock times for each prayer.

Daily extremes, with weekly curves

For each city below we calculate all 365 dates of 2027 with its country default, then compare local 24-hour clock labels to find the extremes. If several dates share a rounded extreme, the first date is listed. The curves sample every seven days and include 31 December; they illustrate the shape, while the extreme dates use every day.

These are clock-time extremes, including daylight saving, not a ranking of dawn visibility or an official mosque schedule. Fajr and Isha follow the chosen preset's twilight and high-latitude rules.

What explains the curve shapes?

Sydney's seasons fall in the opposite part of the year from the northern cities. London also needs a high-latitude convention for summer twilight. New York, London and Sydney include local clock changes; a sharp clock-time step should not be interpreted as an equally sudden change in the sun's motion.

See daylight-saving examples and the high-latitude explanation for those effects. Changing a preset can alter the curve, so these results do not describe every available method.

Data and reuse

The summary download includes the seasonal points and extrema. The public daily dataset supplies the daily prayer instants for these four cities. Convert those instants to the city's local time zone before reproducing clock-time extremes. Calculations use city-centre coordinates, standard model assumptions and no custom user offsets.

Sources and reproducibility

Calculations use SalahTable's prayer-time engine and GeoNames city coordinates. See our calculation methodology and open data for inputs and reuse information.
