A calculated calendar and a local announcement are different inputs
A tool needs a calendar rule to label future dates. A community may adopt a different rule or wait for its authority's announcement. A timetable can therefore calculate solar prayer times consistently while its “Ramadan day 1” label differs from another community's label.
What MUIS explains
In its 2023 statement on determining the beginning and end of Ramadan, Singapore's MUIS discusses calculation, crescent sighting and independent determinations by countries. It explains that regional differences can occur. This is a description of that authority's explanation, not a claim that all countries use the same procedure.
What SalahTable assumes for 2027
Our 2027 Ramadan pages use the Umm al-Qura calendar supplied by the runtime to generate expected dates. That calendar result is not a moon-sighting report, a national announcement or a promise that every local community starts on that date.
The share images and printable timetables carry this assumption inside the image. A final row marked conditional should be used only where the community completes 30 fasting days. Do not infer a local Eid announcement from the presence or absence of a row.
If your community starts on a different day
Use the prayer times for the correct Gregorian date, not the row number alone. Do not simply copy every time from one row to another: Fajr and Maghrib change each day. Open the city finder and the relevant monthly timetable, then follow local announcements for which dates are fasting days.
Reading research charts responsibly
A comparison labelled “expected first date under Umm al-Qura” compares a common named date and stated calendar convention. It should not be quoted as the first local fast everywhere. Our research downloads specify this scope, and the iftar guide explains the daily time boundary.
For the adopted calendar and religious practice in your community, follow the responsible local authority rather than treating a generic website calculation as an announcement.
