When and how to pay
Pay before the Eid al-Fitr prayer; Eid al-Fitr 2027 is expected on Tuesday, 9 March 2027 (Eid prayer times by city). Paying in the last days of Ramadan lets it reach families in time. Give it to people in need where you live unless your mosque or charity distributes it for you.

There is no single cash amount for fitra in India. Amounts are announced city by city (Hanafi practice: the price of about 1.6 kg of wheat). Check your local mosque, Eidgah or Darul Ifta. Who has to pay it?
Every Muslim who has food beyond the needs of the day of Eid pays for themselves and for those they support, including children and, in most schools, a baby born before Eid. The head of the household usually pays for everyone.
